In Good Hands.

CCFS is dedicated to helping break the cycle of domestic violence. In 2007, we established a Domestic Violence Animal Assistance program to offer a safe, temporary environment for the four-legged victims of domestic violence.

By joining forces with New Hanover County law enforcement agencies, as well as Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, Inc., we support domestic violence victims by caring for their animals while they re-establish themselves in a new, safer location. Animals are housed in undisclosed locations that protect the safety of both the victim and the animal.

  • Provides support and relief to victims of domestic violence. The victim does not have to worry about the safety of his or her pet.
  • Animals of domestic violence victims are housed for up to three months at no cost to the victim.
  • Animals are often the secondary, or silent victims that suffer at the hands of an abuser. Being place in an undisclosed, safe environment until its owner is able to relocate gives the animal a second chance at life and rescues them from a potentially fatal situation.
