At Carolina Canines For Service, we do more than train service dogs. We help people live more independent lives. What Is A Service Dog?
A service dog is a dog individually trained to perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability. Service dogs perform a wide variety of tasks, which enable individuals to experience increased independence and enhanced quality of life.
Service dogs trained through CCFS are able to perform a wide array of everyday tasks for their partners. Depending on the type of training, our dogs can:
- Turn on lights and open doors
- Provide balance and stability
- Provide assistance with dressing and undressing
- Assist in making the bed and doing laundry
- Provide physical support for transfers to and from a wheelchair
- Act as a source of unconditional love and companionship
